Self Infusion Tips From Kids Like You:

Always wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water before you infuse.
Do 10 push-ups or lift a small hand weight before you infuse. It gets your blood pumping!
Drink lots of water or juice at least ½ hour before you infuse.
You can use a heating pad (barley bag warmed up in the microwave) or a hot shower, to warm up the infusion site before you start, it will bring the vein to the surface. A warm wash cloth may work too!
If your doctor agrees, always infuse before you play or practice a sport, this way you can prevent a bleed before it starts.

To get a self-infusion kit from Bayer, go to: www.kogenatefs.com and look for the BayCuff.

Baxter also has a Self-Infusion kit that you can get for free, just ask your HTC, doctor or contact your Specialty Therapeutic Care representative.

If you have infusion tips you would like to share with other kids please send them to us on the blog tab above. We would love to hear how you make your infusions easier.
